Woods Bagot Associate Principal / Urban Regeneration Design Leader
With Master of Architecture Degree from University of Pennsylvania, and National 1st Class Registered Architect, Hang Xu has 10-year architectural design experiences, specializing in mixed-use, office and retail developments. Along with leading landmark projects, he has conducted extensive study in the urban regeneration sector and developed a methodical approach to it.
Shanghai Hongkou Duolun Road Urban Renewal Project
Woods Bagot inherits the deep cultural connotation and unique sea style of Duolun Road, and intends to present a new name card of Hongkou. The layout of the project continues the east-west fishbone structure of the historic district of Duolun Road, and the scale of the new buildings is in harmony with the city's texture, accurately reflecting the change in density of the existing buildings from the north to the south.
The project has a total built-up area of nearly 220,000 square metres and is divided into Phase I (West Lot) and Phase II (East Lot). Phase I will develop the ‘Science, Technology and Innovation + Culture’ industry, introduce headquarters enterprises of cultural and digital industries, and provide ancillary facilities such as Grade A office buildings, restaurants and centralised commercial areas. The second phase will create a new carrier for humanistic life, incorporating humanistic, artistic and national trend elements, including national trend cultural creation, business socialisation and night economy.
