The theme of the DAF Conference in Shanghai new international expo center W4 Hall on August 2-4 is "Urban Renewal".
The theme of the conference is "Urban Renewal", and the cases shared include historic buildings, shopping mall facade renovation, old neighborhood development, old factory redevelopment, stadium renewal and upgrading, and so on.
Tianyi is the Stuido Leader in BDP Shanghai studio, in charge of the market of China region, including strategic planning and management, project design and project finance.
He previously worked in BDP Manchester studio since 2010 and moved back to China in 2013 to help develop our Shanghai studio and, with over 25 years’ international work experience,
he has completed projects across various sectors. In the field of Regenration, he has led the design of landmark projects including: Shanghai Yangshupu Power Plant Regenertaion, Shanghai East Jinling Road, Fudan University Handan Road South Area Urban Regeneration, Shanghai Jiabao Smart Bay Urban Renewal, Shanghai Pujiang Center Urban Renewal, Shanghai Baowu Stainless Steel District Urban Renewal, CTTQ Global R&D Center etc.

Edinburgh's St. James's Square is a retail-focused city center mixed-use regeneration project, the largest development in Edinburgh in recent years. The project is located in a World Heritage Site in the heart of Edinburgh. In addition to the 70,000 square meters of retail space, the project includes the UK's second W Hotel, 143 residential units, 30 restaurants and leisure facilities such as a cinema, as well as office space and three levels of underground parking.
The project's masterplan is a symmetrical crescent, linking separate buildings and public areas through a semi-open transparent canopy to create a new neighborhood-like space that enhances the urban quality of the area in which it is located. The project has won the 2021 International RLI Award and the 2022 Scottish Property Award.
Liverpool, one of the birthplaces of the industrial revolution and a sister city of Shanghai, is the site of BDP's "Liverpool One" urban regeneration project, which ranges from masterplanning to architectural design of 22 plots. The development includes retail, restaurants, cinema, hotel, apartments, offices and large green spaces.
BDP was nominated for the RIBA Stirling Prize, the highest honor of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), for the project, which has revitalized Liverpool, increasing visitor numbers by 24% and traffic to the Albert Dock by 40%, making it the most popular destination in the UK outside of London.
